GOVT8386

My name is Emma Czarnecki and I am a Junior studying Environmental Sciences with a certificate in sustainability. I am from the Milwaukee area and after working at a local natural foods co-op, I became very passionate about food and agriculture. Educating people and providing them access to healthy, local and fresh food is what I am all about, especially involving kids. In my free time I enjoy drinking kombucha, going on bike rides and binge watching anything on PBS. I am beyond excited to be interning for Slow Food this fall.

Christine Lamp

Christine feels most alive when baking or cooking. She loves how central food is to life, and the way that community is formed around the table. Her interests have led her to major in Agricultural and Applied Economics, with a certificate in Development Economics and French. Slow Food is a perfect collision of her interests because she loves the farm fresh ingredients and building community in the kitchen as well as during meals.

Jessie Kanter

My name is Jessie Kanter and I’m an intern with the South Madison group this fall. I am a senior majoring in Biology and pursuing certificates in environmental studies and global health. I believe that access to food is a basic right for all, and I am very interested in how we can create sustainable food systems for our ever-changing world. So many people go hungry everyday while so much of the food we produce goes to waste. I believe there are better ways to distribute healthy food to all, and it starts at the local level in terms of buying and selling locally, and changing people’s attitudes about wasting food. I am very excited to work with Slow Food, and to teach others about local foods while promoting food justice in the South Madison community.

Meg DiPoto

Meg is from Neenah, WI (where they make the manhole covers) and is a sophomore here at UW-Madison. One day, she hopes to work in management or development of a local non-profit organization. She spends her free time playing soccer, looking at pictures and videos of cute puppies, and volunteering around Madison.
