Position Description
In this year-long position, the South Madison Co-Director will collaborate with the other South Madison Co-Director and manage twelve interns. The main responsibilities include facilitating the Slow Food Independent Study Session (1 hour), maintaining the canvas page, and coordinating logistics and meetings with interns and community partners. In addition, the co-director will attend bi-weekly hour-long meetings with the other executive members. Great leadership opportunity to work with peers who are passionate about equity in the food system!
Average Time Commitment
- 2-3 hours of preparation and follow-through of instruction for the South Madison Independent Study course
- Available a minimum of 2 hours a week within the following times, if needed:
- Badger Rock: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 1:30-2:30
- Additional Time to prep snacks before Tuesday or Thursday Session
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Dedication to community service
- Prior knowledge of community development, racial disparities, and economic classism
- Willingness to work in a large group and with a co-director as a partner
- Open-minded and flexible to new challenges and occasional chaotic working conditions
- Supporting interns in their projects with resources and tools necessary to succeed (ex., Transportation, emotional/mental support, volunteer coordinating, etc.)
- Attend weekly directors’ meetings and South Madison classes from 6:30-7:30pm on Mondays
